In this article, Dr. Serkan Toto, a consultant for Kantan Games, provided what seems more than a prediction and claimed Mario Kart 9 is currently under development.

Additionally, Dr. Serkan added that this title would include a “new twist,” and Nintendo could tease the game this year.

Notably, Kantan Games is an independent consultancy dedicated to the Japanese gaming market. For this reason, it is not crazy to believe Dr. Serkan’s forecast can be based on reliable insider data.

Mario Kart 8 was initially launched in 2014. Years later, the game received an upgrade for Nintendo Switch in 2017 in the form of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

After almost eight years from its original release date, it is entirely believable Nintendo is working on a sequel to this massively successful franchise.
